Gulfside Casino Partnership, a competing applicant, filed the lawsuit challenging Cherokee Nation Businesses' license. The county has become a battleground for competing groups vying to construct and operate a casino.Īccording to the aforementioned amendment, only one applicant will be chosen to build a single casino. Pope County is one of four Arkansas counties where casinos were permitted under a 2018 state constitutional amendment. A Pulaski County Circuit Judge struck down the license the Arkansas Racing Commission issued to Legends Resort and Casino, a subsidiary of Cherokee Nation Businesses, to build a casino in Pope County. ![]()
